Milkweed Seedlings

Dear MSC Families,

Our kindergarten students have spread milkweed around our neighborhood in order to increase the number of Monarch butterflies. We have some extra seedlings that we have planted, tended, and loved. If you have a garden and would like to take a milkweed seedling to plant and give your love, please contact sprovasoli@schools.nyc.gov.

Preferred times are Wednesday, June 22 right before pickup or Friday, June 24 at 9:10am. Other arrangements can be made. See you soon!

Thank you from IDC

Thank you community for doing anything and everything you could to keep this committee alive during a challenging time for many when people felt so stretched and spread thin.

Next year, to further advance our agenda, we’re looking for at least three people who’d be willing to rotate monthly meeting facilitation service throughout the year to build momentum and better serve our school community with more initiatives. Hitting the ground running on day one of school next year would be great.

And a special thanks to families and community members who have been interviewed for the IDC Pandemic Film Project. Your participation and personal contribution are invaluable. We’re also looking forward to the interviews to come in the next few weeks.

Finally, mark your calendars! Please join us for the premiere of the IDC Pandemic Film Project (working title) on Wednesday October 12, 2022 in the evening. It promises to be an engaging evening of illumination and authentic exchange among community members.

Questions, concerns, too excited to volunteer for service? Please email us! msc333.diversity@gmail.com

Have a wonderful and safe summer! We look forward to your partnership next school year.

Warmly,

The IDC

IN-PERSON SUMMER DANCE CAMP

Location: Brooklyn Heights

Dear Wonderful Dance Community,

Hello! After a brief hiatus from AFTER SCHOOL BALLET, we are BACK for an in-person opportunity this summer! Please read on if you are interested!

The warm weather is here and I couldn’t be happier about it! I know people are gearing up for the end of the school year and making summer plans, so I am writing to introduce SUMMER DANCE CAMP 2022!!!!!! YAY! Whether your child is already enjoying dance classes, or they want to try dance class for the first time, this is a really great way to introduce a little more intensity with daily technique classes, a performance opportunity, and of course, a ton of friend/fun/exploration time!!

I know many people have and are making summer plans, so the exact dates of our camp have not yet been solidified. Options for dates are listed in the link below!! Please click and fill out the survey so I know when the best week will be for most dancers!

  1. Camp will be Monday - Friday, from 10AM-2PM (grown ups will provide your dancers with snacks, lunch, and water each day). This is a drop-off camp - you do not need to stay around. I will be the adult supervising the kids, and we will be indoors for the duration of the camp. We will be at a studio in Brooklyn Heights area - exact location dependent on availability of dancers and studio. **If this location is out of the question for you, please let me know - I can always provide a zoom option for you!
  2. Camps will be split up by age, but are open to ages 6+
  3. The last half hour of camp on Friday will be PERFORMANCE time!!! This will take place in the studio and will be open to friends and family. I will also provide a video recording of the performance for all participants to enjoy afterwards.
  4. Each day, we will have ballet class, jazz/contemporary class, tap, and choreography time for the kids to learn the dances they will be performing. *No, they do not need different shoes for each of these activities!
  5. We will have to have a minimum of 5 dancers register for the camp to happen. Max of 10 dancers per camp.
  6. Dancers must commit to all 5 days of the camp to participate in the Friday performance. Rather than paying each day, payment will be required upon registration. Dancers will receive 3 technique classes and one hour of choreography per day. I will provide some costume pieces for the performance. Tuition for the full week, including rental fee for the studio, will be $425. **If you refer a friend who is new to our classes, you will each get a $50 discount on your full-week registration!
  7. AFTER SCHOOL BALLET students are welcome to opt for a FREE or REDUCED tuition rate, on a SLIDING SCALE. Please inquire and we will find the best option for you.

More details to come, but does this sound like something you are interested in? If so, please fill out this quick survey to let me know which weeks would work for you.

PLEASE CLICK TO INDICATE AVAILABILITY

*This is NOT your registration - just an availability check. Thanks!

And, as always, feel free to pass this information to your friends! This growing dance school, if you will, is growing purely through word of mouth. And that is magical. Thank you for being a part of it!!!

So excited to continue making art with you all this summer.

Best,

Shoshana
