NYC School Survey + Thank YOU Coffee!!

Time is running out to participate with the NYC School Survey! Please take some time to share your thoughts about our school.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The deadline to complete this short survey is April 15th.

  • Students were sent home with paper copies, but also you can complete yours by clicking right here.

  • Families can submit one survey per child by entering 'f' followed by each student’s OSIS number.

  • You can find the OSIS on a student’s report cards or via their NYC Schools Account. But also, you can email Malaka (mbanks5@schools.nyc.gov) for this number or copres@friendsofmsc.org for any troubleshooting assistance that you may need.

Now is the time to speak to your experiences at MSC!

To show our appreciation for your time, Friends of MSC will host a Community Coffee on Wednesday, April 13 during school drop-off...please join us!

Earth Month Activities

Dear Families,

Happy Earth   Month from the MSC Green Team!!

This week we have some fun recycling activities for home and school!

We apologize that we weren’t able to distribute the beeswax wraps last Friday, but (if you requested them), your child should have gotten the materials brought to them today by Green Team members.

Thanks for recycling and loving the planet with us!!

Spring Break

COVID Test Kit Distribution

Dear MSC Community,

On Thursday, April 14th, our students will take home 4 COVID test kits.

Students going to Frost Valley received their kits on Monday, April 11th.

If you need to get your kits before Thursday, April 14th, please contact Tatiana at THoover2@schools.nyc.gov

The kits are to be used before returning from Spring Break.  Students should use one test kit on the evening of April 23rd and another on the evening of April 24th, before returning to school on April 25th.  Participation is encouraged, but voluntary and students are NOT required to show proof of a negative test result before returning.  The extra test kits can be shared with family.

Not only is the Spring weather a welcome change from the cold and rain of late, but it gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy some downtime, rest, recharge and even perhaps travel and reconnect with family and friends

Enjoy Spring Break!

Inclusiveness and Diversity Committee

Manhattan School for Children Inclusiveness and Diversity Committee (IDC) is launching a new and exciting film project that will explore how a cross section of MSC families/caregivers and community members experienced the pandemic.

To kick off the project we would love your assistance in helping us narrow our focus so we can address what’s most important to you. Please take a moment to answer the following questions. This survey is entirely anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself for potential participation in the film. Thank you for your invaluable engagement.

If you have any questions please contact the IDC Film Project Steering Committee at MSCIDCfilmproject@gmail.com.

  • May 4 - Teacher Appreciation Week!
  • June 14
Sign up NOW!!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3-6

To kick off the event and show our AMAZING teachers how SPECIAL they are to us, we are planning to surprise our teachers with colorful signs made by our kids to be hung on the netting where the kids line up in the morning!

Please ask your child to make colorful signs thanking our teachers on letterhead size paper, 8 1/2" x 11" paper.

(If you want, include your child's first name and teacher's name.)

We need parent volunteers from each class to collect the signs no later than April 28 or before.

Volunteers from each class will receive sheet protectors to insert each sign and help hang the signs on the netting in front of their class on Monday, May 2.

When the teachers come to school on May 3, the walk ways will be decorated with all the beautiful signs of appreciation.

Volunteer for Teacher Appreciation Week!
