Students who opt/opted in for blended learning are expected to attend school IN PERSON on the days their cohorts are scheduled to be in the building. Any student not present is marked absent (A).
Students who are ill should stay home until they are better. Students are marked absent (it is a sick day) and they DO NOT join in the remote group.
Remote classes are not open classes where anyone can join. They have limited number of students, and the teachers are responsible for the students enrolled in that class. Hybrid students are not supposed to join in a remote class.
If students have been exposed to COVID or have COVID or have COVID symptoms and have to quarantine they are able to attend school remotely for the 14 days of quarantine and/or have tested negative for COVID.
If a family member is sick (random sickness) students are expected to attend school, as they would in non-COVID time. Only if they have been exposed to a family member who has COVID and the student has to quarantine, then they would join remotely.
Attendance is taken as follows:
Students who are in attendance in person and engage remotely by 3pm are marked "present" (P) for in person and (O) for engaged. In-person students are expected to attend in person. If they do not show up on their cohort day they will be marked absent (A)
Remote students are expected to participate online. If they do not engage at all by11am their teacher marks them absent (M), if they engage before 3pm we change the (M) to an (O).
In the DOE:
The definition of “present” is as follows:
In Person: Student is physically present in the classroom / school learning environment for instruction during the scheduled school day.
Remote: Student is virtually present in a virtual learning environment for synchronous instruction during the scheduled school day.
Students who have selected in-person learning are expected to be physically present in the classroom and will be marked absent if they do not attend in person. They may not opt for remote learning.
