First Annual MSC

Each MSC class is a TEAM that will attempt to reach

333 miles from May 1-June 4th.

The miles can be attained by running, walking, biking, scooting, rolling, or skateboarding.

All family members are encouraged to join in the fun and help their child's class reach their goal. If you have more than one child in the school, then family members' miles can be included in each of their classes.

DOE Parent Voting for Council Representatives

NYC DOE Parent University - How to Vote in the 2021 NYCDOE CCEC Elections (

Voting for Council Representatives begins May 1 and ends May 11! Parents will vote for the councils that serve their children using their NYC Schools Account. To vote, parents will need to have an NYC Schools Account  that has all of their students registered. Parents can join a virtual Candidate Forum to hear what the candidates have to say, or watch a recording of the Forum.

DOE Summer Rising Information

For the first time ever, the City will use theCommunity Schools strategy to integrate the New York City Department of Education’s (NYCDOE’s) academic supports and DYCD’s school-based enrichment programming to create a comprehensive summer program: Summer Rising.

This will be the City’s free, summer plan for any child in grades K-12 including students with disabilities, who wants to participate. Applications for free Summer Rising in-person programs (grades K-8) will open Monday, April 26, 2021. Families can sign up through the Discover DYCD website

  • Summer Rising programs are full day and in-person experiences for students K-8.

  • Students with 12-month IEPs will be contacted about participating in their IEP-recommended programs and about their learning preferences (remote or in person)

  • High school programs may be in-person or remote, depending on the subject area and community needs. High schools will design programs locally to meet the unique needs of older students. High schools will reach out to students in the coming weeks to discuss participation.

STEM Inquiry May Series

How do you nurture your child's sense of wonder and curiosity? STEM Inquiry is excited to offer the NEW MAY Series of Science Explorers! In these five-session series, students learn to explore science and STEM in hands-on ways! Students ages 4 - 13, in different age bands, are welcome to join these interactive, virtual, live, small group class series that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, perseverance, creativity, experimenting, and fun!

Register up to one week before class starts to allow time for shipment of your materials kit. Register by Monday, May 3rd!
