Friends of MSC relies on parent participation to raise money for programs that benefit our students everyday, but fundraising isn't the only way to support our school!

Parent involvement is vital to the success of fun, community building events and enrichment experience.

The MSC Inclusiveness and Diversity Committee (IDC) is dedicated to creating a shared school community of families and educators that embraces and reflects the diversity of our District and our City.  Creating such a community takes intentional and collaborative work; our mission is to raise the collective awareness and cultural competencies of members of the community. We are committed to making MSC a school where all voices are heard, valued, and respected towards shaping an inclusive and welcoming community.

The Welcome Committee helps new families entering MSC settle in at our school. Volunteers can be involved in many aspects of this committee: welcome families at kindergarten visits in May, be a buddy to new families throughout the summer, organize a kindergarten play date before the start of the school year, organize and host the first-day-of-school breakfast.

Please contact volunteer@friendsofmsc.org to learn more.

The Family Healing and Wellness  Committee is a new parent-facing program that hinges on peer-to-peer support, where a community of parents or caregivers share ways to care for themselves and the school community.

Please contact community@friendsofmsc.org to learn more.

Being a class parent is a fulfilling way to actively participate throughout the school year helping support our classroom teachers and connecting families to the MSC community.

Each fall, our Family Giving Committee raises money for all of MSC's supplemental programs, including our arts, music, wellness and greenhouse programs. Funds raised during Family Giving account for 40% of the PA’s operating budget.

We are seeking parents with experience in grant writing and research, who will identify and create grants to fund various school-wide projects and activities.
